Ascentria is a refugee resettlement agency that LexRAP partners with in the support of adult refugees and their families. Another of Ascentria’s programs is the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program which finds foster parents for refugees under the age of 18 who have found themselves in the US with no parent or adult relative. One foster mom writes:
“Our family has become a lot richer. We’ve learned a lot more about culture and immigration. And just had our horizons opened. It’s been a good experience, there’s been some challenges along the way. The staff at Ascentria are always there to support us, and to support the young people through any difficulties or problems that we run into. We’re just feeling very grateful that we’ve had this experience in our life. It’s been very enriching.”
